FORT WORTH, TX, February 24, 2023 – On a recent Monday afternoon, guests and residents at the Courtyards at Lake Granbury gathered to celebrate Community Healthcare of Texas patient Ralph Seals in style with a top hats and tiaras-themed party for his 104th birthday.

The Courtyards at Lake Granbury partnered with Community Healthcare of Texas, the state’s largest not-for-profit hospice and palliative care provider, to plan the special day for Mr. Seals, a resident of the senior living community.

Mr. Seals was all smiles as he tapped his fingers and toes along with the beat of the music that filled the room. His enthusiasm didn’t surprise his daughter-in-law, Marcia, who recalled that Mr. Seals and his late wife, Pansy were the “star dancers” at their previous senior living center.

In speaking with Hood County News reporter Ashley Inge, Marcia also shared what she believes is the secret to Mr. Seals’ long life. “He walked miles and miles, so that’s why (he’s lived so long), and he’s worked hard all his life,” she said.

The US Army Air Corps veteran has made a lasting impression on his entire care team from Community Healthcare of Texas, especially Patient Care Manager Keri Brooks. “Watching Mr. Seals walk in the room was invigorating and reminded me why I chose a career in hospice,” said Keri. “The day was the epitome of what hospice care is designed to be – celebrating and living life to the fullest.”
