Community Healthcare of Texas Receives $15,000 Grant from Helen Irwin Littauer Educational Trust to Support Compassionate Care Program for Hospice and Palliative Care Patients
Community Healthcare of Texas (CHOT), the state’s largest nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider, is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Helen Irwin Littauer Educational Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee. This vital funding will support CHOT’s Compassionate Care Program, which provides essential hospice and palliative care services to uninsured and underinsured patients.
The diagnosis of a serious or terminal illness often leads to a financial crisis for patients and their loved ones. Significant out-of-pocket expenses related to care have the potential to financially damage families for generations. Each year, the Compassionate Care Program provides more than $1.4 million in services, equivalent to 4,500 days of care, to uninsured and underinsured patients and their families. This program guarantees that patients and their families receive comprehensive care, including expert medical and nursing services, family support, counseling, necessary supplies and equipment, medication, and bereavement services, regardless of their ability to pay.
“We are immensely grateful to the Helen Irwin Littauer Educational Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, for this generous grant,” said Karen Derrick, Chief Development Officer of Community Healthcare of Texas. “This support will enable us to continue providing essential hospice and palliative care services to patients and their families, ensuring they receive the same high level of care no matter their financial status.”
Since 1996, Community Healthcare of Texas has taken a holistic approach to care that addresses not only physical symptoms but also the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families. This grant will help CHOT continue its mission of providing compassionate, comprehensive care to those in need.
