Providence Hospice Honored by City of Waco for 30 Years of Compassionate Care

During the May 5 Waco City Council meeting, Mayor Jim Holmes presented a proclamation honoring Providence Hospice’s 30th anniversary and officially recognizing May 1, 2026, as Providence Hospice 30th Anniversary Day in the City of Waco.
The proclamation recognized Providence Hospice’s lasting legacy of compassionate service to adult and pediatric patients and families throughout the community, as well as the meaningful difference the organization makes each day for those facing serious illness and end-of-life journeys.
Mayor Holmes acknowledged the tremendous value Providence Hospice brings to individuals and families during some of life’s most difficult moments and, on behalf of the City of Waco, expressed appreciation for the organization’s dedication and service to the community.
Founded in 1996, Providence Hospice has grown to become the largest nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider in Texas. Over the past 30 years, the organization has cared for more than 80,000 patients and families across Central and North Texas and has remained a cornerstone of compassionate end-of-life care in the Waco community.
“We are deeply grateful to serve Waco and the surrounding communities,” said Viki Jingle, CEO of Providence Hospice. “This recognition reflects not only the dedication of our staff and volunteers, but also the incredible support of this community and the generosity of donors who have helped make our mission possible. Because of that support, we have been able to provide more than $30 million in uninsured care to patients and families in need over the past three decades.”
During the meeting, Waco City Council Member Andrea Barefield shared her family’s personal experience with Providence Hospice, recalling the compassionate care provided to her father and family during his final days more than a decade ago. She expressed gratitude for the comfort and support her family received during that difficult time.
As Providence Hospice celebrates 30 years of service, the organization remains committed to providing compassionate hospice, palliative, and pediatric care, supporting patients and families at every stage of their journey.
