Children represent a family’s hope for the future. When a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness is given for a child, it often seems as if nothing makes sense. Community Healthcare of Texas recognizes this as one of the most difficult journeys a family can face.
Little Doves Pediatric Hospice Program is a specialized children’s hospice providing care and support for children and families in the DFW and Waco areas since 1996. We partner with pediatric medical centers and have established relationships with area specialists. Little Doves serves pediatric patients from pre-birth to early adulthood challenged in life by cancer, neurological disorders, diseases of the heart and lungs, neonatal diseases, and congenital abnormalities. Insurance companies and Medicaid typically cover services.
Our interdisciplinary team consists of physicians, nurses, social workers, spiritual care coordinators, nursing aides, and volunteers. Our team will partner with your pediatrician, specialists, therapists, and others to give you complete support in all areas. Our team will make scheduled visits and be available 24 hours a day to respond to your needs.
Little Doves covers medical equipment, supplies, and medications related to your child’s diagnosis. Children are encouraged to continue their normal activities like attending school, going on family outings, and participating in activities with friends. Our goal is to ease the burden of managing an illness while allowing you to continue making family memories.
We know there’s no place like home, especially for children. Little Doves provides support and education to help you care for your child in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of home. If necessary, a more intensive level of care may be initiated to provide prompt relief of acute pain and other symptoms. In addition to expert medical care for your child, we offer emotional and spiritual support for the entire family.
