Local Hospice Provider Receives Prestigious Award

Community Healthcare of Texas – Providence Hospice, the largest not-for-profit hospice provider in the state, has been named as a 2023 Hospice CAHPS Honors Elite Award recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst, a leading provider of revenue cycle management services, CAHPS and bereavement surveys and advanced analytics for hospice organizations. This prestigious annual review recognizes organizations that continuously provide a positive patient experience and high-quality care as measured from the patient and caregiver point of view.

Serving 25 counties across the North Central Texas region, Community Healthcare of Texas – Providence Hospice has cared for seriously ill pediatric and adult patients since 1996. The Hospice Honors Award specifically recognizes the organization’s Waco, Mexia, and Providence Hospice Place locations.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition,” said Audie Williams, senior director for Community Healthcare of Texas – Providence Hospice. “It reflects the commitment of our team of dedicated healthcare professionals who consistently provide compassionate care to patients and families throughout the community.”

Award criteria are based on Hospice CAHPS survey results from April 2022 through March 2023. The survey includes 19 questions related to essential components of care, such as managing patient pain and symptoms, communicating with family, treating patients with respect, and providing emotional and spiritual support. Hospice CAHPS Honors Elite recipients include organizations scoring above the national average on at least 85% of the evaluated questions.

“We began our Annual Hospice Honors Award program more than ten years ago as a way to highlight those agencies that are truly leading the way in providing and demonstrating quality patient care,” said Ronda Howard, Vice President of Revenue Cycle and CAHPS at HEALTHCAREfirst. “We congratulate Providence Hospice on their success and are so proud and honored that they have chosen to partner with us in helping drive success for their agency.”
