Children represent a family’s hope for the future. When a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness is given for a child, it must seem as if nothing makes sense. Community Hospice of Texas and Providence Hospice recognize this as one of the most difficult journeys a family can face.
Little Doves Pediatric Hospice Program is a specialized children’s hospice. Our pediatric teams have served children in the DFW and Waco area since 1995. We partner with pediatric medical centers and have established relationships with area specialists. Little Doves serves pediatric patients from prebirth to early adulthood who are challenged in life by cancer, neurological disorders, diseases of the heart and lungs, neonatal diseases and congenital abnormalities. Services are typically covered by insurance companies and Medicaid.
Our interdisciplinary team consists of physicians, nurses, child life specialists, social workers, chaplains, nursing aides and volunteers. Our team will partner with your pediatrician, specialists, therapists and others to give you complete support in all areas. Our team will make scheduled visits and be available 24 hours a day to respond to your needs.
Little Doves covers medical equipment, supplies and medications related to your child’s diagnosis. Children are encouraged to continue their normal activities like attend school, go on family outings and participate in activities with friends. Our goal is ease the burden of managing an illness while allowing you to continue making family memories.
We know there’s no place like home, especially for children. Little Doves will provide support and education to help you care for your child in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of home. If necessary, a more intensive level of care may be initiated to provide prompt relief of acute pain and other symptoms. In addition to expert medical care for your child, we offer emotional and spiritual support for the entire family.
